Dr Anna Hands

Dr Anna Hands is a Director of the not-for-profit community organisation, PPL PWR, which promotes sustainability and sustainable innovation through public engagement. In 2021, Anna recently completed her PhD in Neuroscience at University College London and she now works as a Policy Officer at the Academy of Medical Sciences, bringing together stakeholders from the public, private and governmental sectors to discuss societal health challenges, including women's health and healthy ageing. Anna also holds a bachelors in Biological Natural Sciences from Homerton College Cambridge.

From 2011-2013, Anna has worked for Dr Alison Cooke as her personal assistant. As well as the usual administrative duties, she was responsible for the development of the Cooke Associates website and aspects of the Sports Engineering in Education project. In the winter of 2011, she attended COP17 in Durban, South Africa with Dr Cooke and, while she was there, assisted the Cambridge Institute of Sustainability Leadership (the CPSL) with their activities.

Anna has given various talks on topics relevant to sustainability, including her recent Tedx talk about the power of community in combating climate change and an exploration of how to drive effective behaviour change as part of the Youth Climate Summit 2020.
